The Young Naturalist Awards is a research-based essay contest for students in grades 7-12 to promote participation and communication in science.

Find a place to explore that fascinates you. Begin by choosing a topic in biology, Earth science, or astronomy. Plan an expedition that will provide new data, questions, specimens, or observations on your topic. Share your research through either a narrative essay or field journal.
