Word of the Week

Each week Sierra Vista students will be introduced to a "new word" from the world of Health and Nutrition. There is so much mis-information out there that it's time to educate your sons'/daughters on how to Eat, Move, and be Healthy. Each new word will be covered during the first 2-3 minutes of class for one week. Every Monday brings a new word. The goal of the "Word Of The Week" is to help my students start to make small changes, gradually to how they eat and what the benefits of eating and moving correctly will do for their body.

Week 9-11- Sugar
Sugar is a Non food- depleted of vitamins and minerals, takes more nutrients from your body then it delivers.

-in processing all fiber, protein, and minerals(which compromise almost 90% of the plant itself) are removed

-100 years ago average person at 4 pounds of sugar per year. Today we eat 150-170 pounds per year. For every American who eats 5 pounds a year there is someone who eat 295 pounds per year.

In class this week we will learn why sugar is ruining peoples health and vitality and some alternatives to sugar that you can try that are tasty and good for you.

Week 5- Review Proper Hydration/Sleep Cycles. This week we are going to review what we learned about hydration and sleep cycles. The goal is to make small changes in your life as you learn more about the world of health and nutrition. Small changes add up to huge health benefits as time goes on.

Week 4- Sleep Cycles. Time to get to bed on time people. Quality sleep is a very important part of keeping your body healthy. This week you will learn the healing benefits of getting to bed by 10:00pm.

Week 1-3-Proper Hydration-Water. During the first week of school we will learm why water is the key to good health. Each day we will cover new information for you to implement into your daily routine.
